Welcome to Meme-Time

Hello peers, bloggers, and internet-users alike, and welcome to Meme-Time. This meme coined from the creative depths of my mind was the best way I thought I could remediate the topic of this weeks BCM112 lecture, and here is why:

“The Medium is the Message” devised by media philosopher Marshall McLuhan, is a phrase often brought up in my Convergent Media Practices classes. The model shaping how this notion works could be described similarly to the notion of deception – which brought me to the classic quizzical stare of Leonardo DiCaprio in Christopher Nolans’ 2010 film Inception. You see I found myself hosting this exact expression while trying to wrap my head around the concept, however I have now come to the understanding that over time as technology and the world around us has developed to accommodate alternate affordances, the medium that messages use have in fact influenced the very importance of different messages and how they are delivered to an audience. For example; the Internet as a medium has revolutionized what messages we send. Testimony to this is the birth of the meme.

For now, signing off,

Leo as a meme, I love it! I like the way you have given a simplistic definition of this week’s topic in a clear and concise manner. Maybe one way to improve would be to give some further background behind the concept?

Hey, this is a good first post. I liked the relatively concise explanation and you did very well with the meme, but I also feel like you could have improved your explanation by making it clearer and more in-depth.

Overall this is a good first post though, nice work.

love the meme!! Great explanation of the ‘medium is the message’ as a concept, very concise only advice I could think of is to perhaps expand on your example as to how it effects the messages we send i.e. twitter has affected more than we realise including our grammar, language, and the complexity of our message simply due to the word count. All in all nice work 🙂

Good job explaining the whole meaning of ‘the medium is the message’ as a whole
I would give a definition to what both the medium and the message is- which the medium is an extension of our own personal self and the message is the change of scale.
Good example aswell and overall post 🙂
